There's a buzz in my ear, I'm not sure where it's coming from, and even if I did, I'm not sure that I'd want it to stop. The silence that's surrounding me is drowning me; I cannot breathe. The animals that danced with me in trance with me have dropped. I'm not sure where we're headed for, but even if I did I'm not sure that I want it to stop.

There goes that guy with his face on t.v. He runs his mouth like a factory; Turns it on, All day long. Like a pawn, Dusk till Dawn What’s it feel like, with your head in the clouds? Just keep your mouth shut, and place your feet on the ground. Self absorbed, but adored. You live your life like you’re a gift to the gods themselves, Your sense of self-worth is askew; an ego from hell. Far as I can see, the hills are lined with greed; Money buys believability. I see the stars in your eyes, the conviction in your lies, all the people you deceive with your position they perceive.

“Thought you bought the farm,” she said. Seven years, free from a cage. Shed a tear for all who’ve lost the fight. The kid’s gonna be alright, and start a new day. Hey, hey! This kid’s gonna be okay. Skeletons in my closet call, “Freedom can come crashing down, and worms will crawl through your skin overnight.” But hey, hey, the kid’s gonna be alright, and live another day. They’ll say, “give it time, he’ll crash real soon, you’ll see.” Not me, this time I’ll prove them wrong and I’ll be free. Hey, Hey, the kid’s gonna be just fine and walk away. Pioneer in a new town. Sun will rise the same each day, And challenge us in different ways. Try to make our hearts betray. Hey, Hey!

The Ballad of Mac Brazel Strange creatures far away from home Strange features carved into the stone Scattered silver In Sacred Summer Under a Vacant Desert Sky Mac Brazel can’t believe his eyes. Their Spindly Bodies In Tiny Boxes Other-worldly Eyes like almonds. Hush now, you’ve been sleeping. No secrets that we’re keeping. No people disappearing, Or reverse engineering. No others out there reaping The answers that we’re seeking. No base under the mountain Or lights over the canyon…

Life is not a pop song! Life is not a sing - along! Brothers betray, and the Children are slain, and we Can’t find our way… cuz we’re lost somewhere in a dream, and it’s sad when Love doesn’t mean a thing. Life is not a fairy tale, This is not the Daily Mail Heroes fall from grace and the Dead march in place while your Gods turn in their graves Lost somewhere in a dream, and it’s sad when Love doesn’t mean a thing. Love doesn’t mean a thing. Life is not the evening news; This is just a poor excuse Hate breeds from fear, and the Devil, he cheers and we Fall back in years cuz we’re Lost somewhere in a dream, and it’s sad when Love doesn’t mean a thing. Lost somewhere in dream, and it’s sad when Love doesn’t mean a thing.

Slipping away; try to keep face, and stand. Pick myself up. Pull myself out of the sand. May take a while, just might break thru, release everything we know  Maybe one day, the people will say, "the kid has finally grown."  Silence is cold  Tear down these walls Soon we'll be old  With nothing at all  Kissing the wind, your voice echoes then fades. Down to a few, visions of blood-stained blades. Maybe some day, light will shine thru Illuminate the way. It's all I can do to focus and breathe;  Calm before the storm.  Tremble inside Shaken my soul  Dust in my eyes  Do as we're told  Sky is aglow  Still hold the hill  Time starts to slow As does our will

Weltschmerz 03:02
Same ol' town lives in everyone Such a pretty house; time to tear it down.

I must be dreaming again. Seems that the sky’s closing in. Faces around me are grey. People surrounding me are clay. Pack it up; we’re going home To a place you should know; It’s happening again… Time slowly comes to an end. An end to the games we all played; Away from the damage we made. Pack it up; we’re going home To a place you should know; A place from where we all came; A place called home cuz we’re the same. (Chorus) Pack it up; we’re going home To a place you should know; Faceless crowds and nameless seas; No religion, no disease… Pack it up; we’re going home To a place you should know; No more war, there’s only peace; No more begging on your knees. No more children die in vain No more sadness no more pain No more gods to place the blame No more drugs to call your name Pack it up; we’re going home.

about

Strange Creatures – Estimate of the Situation

"Strange Creatures" is Jay Hammen, a school psychologist, husband, and daddy living in the sunshine state. Previously the drummer in the indie-rock, Baltimore-based band, "Brickfoot," Jay has decided to express himself as an independent artist. Brickfoot found success traveling to thirty different countries touring for the Armed Forces Entertainment Network, as well as opening for acts such as The Psychedelic Furs, Fastball, Nine Days, Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Earlimart, Silver Sun Pickups, and Kiss. They recorded with world renown engineers Shelly Yakus (John Lennon, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty) and Rick Slater (The Rolling Stones), as well as Jim Fairchild (Grandaddy, Modest Mouse) and Aaron Espinoza (Earlimart).

After relocating from Baltimore to Florida and beginning an entirely new life, Jay studied Elementary Education at USF in St. Petersburg, and taught 4th grade and special education. He continued his education and received a masters and specialist degree in School Psychology, but found that he just could not stay away from making music while teaching and attending school. The six-song EP, “Give Up the Ghost” was released in 2016 while recuperating from an automobile accident. Initially thinking it was going to be a one-time thing, more songs immediately followed which began forming the themes for the next album.

“Estimate of the Situation” is the debut full length album that follows the EP, “Give Up the Ghost.” Once again recording entirely on an iPhone 6 (with the exception of the guitars on “The Kid’s Gonna Be Alright”), the album’s concept combines science-fiction, current events, and ufology in a figurative quest of finding a comfortable place in the universe.
